We all look forward to our annual vacations and considering you pay for it all in advance; the average tourist puts themselves at risk from all manner of problems that could befall the vacation before and during it. Even now, many tourists do not believe that the cost of travel insurance is worth it and put everything at risk by traveling without it. However, this attitude does not really make sense when you consider the potential problems that can befall any vacation it is amazing and the cost of this protection is a miserly 5 to 10 percent of the total cost of the vacation package. Not only could you be prevented from traveling through accident or illness but even worse, they could happen when you were on vacation and in which case you could either lose the deposit or be forced to pay local medical bills. Remember that if you cancel at the last minute for any reason you will lose all the money you have paid out with no recourse. Travel insurance cover will allow for situations like this along with emergency repatriation, medical expenses, stolen or lost luggage, airline delays and many more incidents that can become expensive. There are occasions where a situation prevents us from taking our holidays right at the last minute where normally all money paid to that point can be forfeit but travel insurance can prevent this happening. A good travel insurance plan should provide trip cancellation coverage for the traveler's vacation investment and the insurance company should reimburse the traveler for all pre-paid, nonrefundable expenses. A trip can also be interrupted partway through and cancellation coverage will refund any unused parts of your vacation including any unused deposits for other trips. Good travel insurance plans will include acts of terrorism both in the United States and other countries, but not all do this. Overall, the cost of travel insurance is inexpensive but it will rise according to the age of the people it is covering. One unfortunate occurrence is when the tour operator etc. becomes bankrupt after you have paid your deposit but your travel insurance policy should cover this aspect as long as you decided to commence the plan within the 15 days after the deposit was paid for. Credit cards, auto insurance and often home owner's insurance plans may cover aspects of your travel so a comprehensive travel insurance plan may not be required. Duplications in insurance coverage will merely mean you are paying for something twice so it is worth your while checking other policies before you finally commit. The fine print on insurance policies can be confusing but is necessary to check as you may be laboring under the false belief that you are covered on areas of the travel insurance for another policy but are not insured at all.
